Fundamentals of Insurance Certificate Program
Passing the Fundamentals of Insurance exam qualifies you to be licenced as a level 1 Property and Casualty Insurance Representative in Newfoundland.
This program provides a good understanding of the principles of insurance, personal lines coverage, automobile insurance and an introduction to commercial lines.
The Fundamentals of Insurance course is different from other courses offered. It is not an in-depth study of insurance wordings presently in use. It focuses primarily on the needs of the consumer. You will follow the lives of the Butlers, a hypothetical family, who serve as an example to illustrate the workings of various insurance concepts. The intent of this strategy is to break down the barriers of learning which are naturally inherent in technical or specialized disciplines such as insurance.
This course is available mainly through home study, however when sufficient numbers warrant it may also be offered as a five day immersion. The examination is normally written on the first Wednesday of every month, except in August.
