IBAN is the provincial distributor for the Insurance Institute of America's Introduction to Risk Management course.
The Introduction to Risk Management course is designed for people who need to have basic understanding of what risk managers do, how they do it and why risk management is important. These people include support personnel, CSR's, producers and principals in insurance brokerages.
Through various scenarios, depicting personal and business situations, the Introduction to Risk Management course offers a brief but concentrated way to learn:
- The language of risk management
-terms and ideas commonly used by risk managers. - An overview of the risk management process, a systematic approach to the analyses and treatment of loss exposures.
- How risk management fits into organizational structures.
- How risk management objectives serve to support organizational settings.
- How numerous people in various roles work together to perform the risk management function.
- The basics of risk management to give you a foundation for future educational pursuits.
The course consists of six assignments that take a case study approach. Several ways exist to study the introduction to Risk Management course and to prepare for the national examination You can choose to:
- Organize a study group with coworkers.
- Study independently.
- Attend a three day seminar when numbers warrant.
The Introduction to Risk Management examination is a two hour long, short answer exam The questions are of two types: stand-alone questions, often asking for a definition of a term or some other brief specific answer; and questions related to one or more case studies, which require you to analyze a situation and apply what you've learned in the course. Sample exam questions and answers, as well as review questions, appear in the single volume text/course guide, the only required study material for the course.
You can take the exam at any of the scheduled CAIB examination dates or the day following the three day seminar (when offered). Your completed exam will be sent to the Insurance Institute of America to be graded. It will notify you directly of your results.
Upon passing the exam, you will earn a Certificate of Completion from the Insurance Institute of America
