Early in the morning of December 24, 1990 the insurance industry lost a good friend and advocate with the sudden death of Rus Rice. Although still in his early forties and associated with the industry for just over ten years, he had already left his mark. A life to be celebrated and remembered, the insurance brokers associations of the four Atlantic Provinces hope that something of his spirit will be captured each year as the bursary named for him is presented.

The $1,000 bursary will be presented to a full time student, including freshmen, pursuing undergraduate studies at a recognized degree granting institution. The bursary will be awarded on the following basis:

  • Financial
  • Academic
  • Other interests

An applicant must be a dependent of a broker or a staff member of a brokerage in the Atlantic Provinces, which is a member in good standing of their Provincial Association. Applications are restricted to residents of the Atlantic Provinces and must be post-marked no later than June 29, 2013.

To receive more applications please make copies or contact the Insurance Brokers Association of Newfoundland at (709) 726-4450 (Tel) or e-mail iban@nfld.net
