Course Policies

Insurance Brokers Association of Newfoundland (IBAN) will register a student for a course/exam on a per student case based on the following guidelines.

1. Students can register for a course/exam when:
i. A registration form is filled out on-line

2. A course registration is:
i. Non-refundable once the textbooks have been shipped from the IBAN office.
ii. The student must write the course exam within one year from the date of registration. If the student takes longer than one year to successfully complete the exam, a re-registration fee of $120+HST will be charged.
iii. If the student does not pass the exam (i.e. mark of 45% or more then they will be charged re-write fees.  Maximum 2 re-writes provided exam mark is 45% or more).  If a student obtains a mark of 44% or less then they must repeat the CAIB course. 

Exam Locations
Students who reside in St. John’s will write CAIB Exams at the exam location determined by the number of students (i.e. May and December exams take place at St. Teresa’s Parish Hall and February, July and December exams are held at the IBAN office.

Students who reside outside of St. John’s are permitted to write their CAIB exams within their brokerage provided they are proctored by a suitable proctor. IBAN does not limit the number of out of town locations for the writing of CAIB exams.
