In Canada, you can purchase insurance a) directly from an insurance company; b) from an agent who represents only one insurer and can only offer that company’s products; c) on the Internet; d) through an insurance broker who can offer a choice of coverages from various insurance companies. An insurance broker offers you:
We work for you, not an insurance company. A broker’s foremost duty is to his or her client.
We offer you choice among insurance products. And we’ll help you find the coverage that’s right for you, your home or your business.
In the event of a claim, we represent your interests and will guide you through the settlement process. We’ll act as your advocate to make sure your claim is settled quickly and fairly.
Brokers are licensed insurance professionals, regulated by the Superintendent of Insurance. IBAN works closely with the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada to offer our brokers continuing education courses and national designation programs such as Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker. IBAN members are bound by the Privacy Act and our own Code of Ethics.
More than 1,000 insurance brokers live and work throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. We’re proud of our “Main Street” presence and we understand the challenges specific to our communities.
