Online Exams for CAIB & Fundamentals of Insurance (FOI)

IBAN will be closed for the holidays from December 22, 2025 - January 5, 2026.

EXAM and TEXTBOOK Requests:

Students need to be aware that licensing exam requests will not be processed during these dates and textbook orders will not be filled until the New Year.

The LAST DAY to request an exam or order textbooks is December 17.

Therefore, if you are planning to register for one of our upcoming January CAIB evening webinars, please order your textbook before December 17, or you may not have it in time for your start date.

Students can write exams over the holidays with the exception of the following dates: December 24, 25, 26, January 1 but it must be approved by December 17.

Exam hours remain 11:00am -9:00pm and if you need assistance with an exam, you can contact Captus Press at: support@captus.com, or 1-866-348-7888. They cannot approve exams, so please only contact them about a scheduled exam.

We are pleased to offer students in Newfoundland & Labrador online exams for CAIB and FOI! We have worked closely with our provider, Captus Press to provide this digital platform of learning which will enhance the exam process.

Step 1 - Students MUST register though iban.ca. They can choose self study or evening webinar. 

*** If you are re-writing an exam, please DO NOT complete Step 1. Start with Step 2 ***

Step 2 - When students are ready to write their exam, they will register through Captus Press website located on the My Courses page. Students will be required to purchase their exam before they are approved to write. Payment by credit card is highly recommended for ease ( you can either enter info, or have a manager call in with the number - 905-760-2723) but cheques made out to Captus Press are accepted; however due to the delay to process a cheque, students must give 2 weeks before they plan to write their exam. If students are paying with a credit card, we ask for 5 days notice to ensure payment is processed. All payments for exams go directly to Captus Press.

Step 3 - Once registered, students must email exams@iban.ca with the following information : exam date, exam time, proctor name, phone number and email. Your proctor must be copied on this email. Please note: Proctors must be a supervisor, manager, or brokerage principal. The available exams times are Monday-Friday, 11:30am-9:30pm.

** Students who have selected to use an online proctor, do not need to complete this step **

Step 4 - Once IBAN approves your exam date/time/proctor, and Captus Press processes your payment, an email will be sent to the student with exam login codes. Proctors will also receive an email with their proctor codes. Please note: These codes are only valid for the date and time that the student has been approved to write.

Step 5 - Students write their online exam ( 3.5 hours for CAIB; 2 hours for FOI )

Step 6 - Students may login to iban.ca and click My Courses to view their exam mark. Please allow 1-2 weeks for your exam to be marked.
